Tanika Bhattacharya is a very talented singer of Bengal. This Kolkata based vocalist specializes in semi classical & light music. Rank holder in Rajya Sangeet Academy in the year 1994, Radio music competition, Jawaharlal Nehru Talent Search Contest. All India Radio A-Grade artist. A regular performer in A.I.R. and Doordarshan. She already has 3 albums on contemporary bangla gaan and the fourth one is about to be released shortly. Performed Indian Music in various parts of India.
Born in an enlightened family, where music and academics went hand in hand, Tanika’s encouragement was her mother Late Meera Bhattacharya.
Her training in classical vocal began at the age of 7 under the tutelage of Smt. Geeta Haldar. An intense and a much more disciplined training started at the age of 12 under Late Sangeet Acharya Usharanjan Mukhopadhaya, Late Sangeet Acharya Krishnachandra Bandyopadhyaya and Sangeet Acharya Amiya Ranjan Bandopadhyaya respectively.
Her training in the semi - classical and light genres were under the stalwarts like Late Sukumar Mitra, Smt. Purabi Dutta, Sri Anal Chattopadhyaya and Sri Jatileswar Mukhopadhyaya.
